Innocent plea
YOUNGSTOWN -- David Robison, a former Warren city engineer, pleaded innocent before federal magistrate George Limbert on Tuesday to charges of racketeering, bribery and mail fraud. The government says Robison, of Cortland, took bribes and kickbacks from construction projects in the city. The court set a $20,000 unsecured bond, and Robison cannot leave the area without court approval. The case went to a grand jury after investigation by the Youngstown FBI office's public corruption task force.
Tattoo shop break-in
WARREN -- Fat Cat Tattoos, 1447 Elm Road, told police Tuesday someone broke out a front window and entered the building. The business suffered a "significant loss in equipment," police reported.
Double vote
WARREN -- The Trumbull County Board of Elections decided Tuesday it won't seek criminal charges against two elderly people who tried to vote twice in the November elections. A Liberty man and a Warren woman both recently had moved and cast provisional ballots. The man voted again in Liberty, and the woman had cast an absentee ballot. In both cases, election officials counted only one vote.
Trash citation
YOUNGSTOWN -- Anthony Yenneri Jr., 39, of Parkgate Avenue was issued a citation Tuesday charging deposit of trash and rubbish at his business, T & amp;S Auto Service, 991 Bears Den Road. Police said they had received trash complaints about the business. Officers said they found four partially disassembled junk cars, two engine blocks and several bags of trash in front of the car lot and no fence around the property.
Facing drug charge
YOUNGSTOWN -- Donald E. White, 47, listed as homeless, was arrested on charges of breaking and entering and possession of drug paraphernalia (crack pipe) when police checked out a report of a prowler at 2908 Hillman St. on Tuesday night. Officers who found White hiding in a closet said it appeared he had been living in the house owned by a woman who moved to a nursing home not long ago.
Robbery attempt
YOUNGSTOWN -- Police are looking for a man who walked into the Medicine Shoppe, 2603 Mahoning Ave., Tuesday and demanded OxyContin pills, saying he had a gun. OxyContin is a powerful painkiller. The store employee walked to the back of the store and called police during the attempted robbery. After waiting a short time, the would-be robber walked out and headed east on Mahoning. He is described as white, 20 years old, 5 feet 4 inches and 160 pounds with black hair and a mustache. He was wearing a gray sweatshirt with U.S. Polo Association written on the front, police said.
Homecoming grant
FARRELL, Pa. -- State Sen. Bob Robbins of Greenville, R-5th, and state Rep. Mike Gruitza of Hermitage, D-7th, announced the awarding of a state grant to support the annual homecoming celebration in Farrell. The lawmakers said Wednesday that the $1,850 grant was awarded by the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts to help pay for the concerts that take place during homecoming.
Authority meeting dates
VIENNA -- The Western Reserve Port Authority could not meet Wednesday because it didn't have a quorum. So, the board set tentative meeting times of 8 a.m. Wednesday and 8 a.m. Feb. 22. The board will discuss its possible role in a Mahoning River cleanup.
