YOUNGSTOWN -- Shondale Phifer, 30, of Kenmore Avenue told police he was shot in the foot near his car outside Larry's Lounge on Hillman Street around 2 a.m. Saturday.
Police said he was uncooperative when asked to describe who shot him, saying only they were ugly. A witness gave police the suspect's name.
Phifer's car was also shot four times, police said.
Drug abuse charges
YOUNGSTOWN -- Michael Ratliff, 23, of Baker Street was arrested on charges of drug abuse (crack cocaine) and drug abuse (marijuana) during a raid by the vice squad at 44 Brooklyn Ave. Friday afternoon.
Police, after knocking, rammed through the front door. Officers recovered $115, a bag of suspected marijuana and a large bag of suspected crack.
An additional $265 was recovered from Ratliff at the Mahoning County jail.
Trumbull Co. dog calls
WARREN -- The Trumbull County Dog Kennel had contact with 735 dogs in 2004, according to its annual report.
Of these calls, 275 dogs were handled by county dog wardens and 185 by Warren city wardens. Individuals made 275 of these calls to the kennel.
The kennel was able to sell 36 dogs and redeem 28.
It received 1,440 complaints and 2,238 visitors.
Safety panel to meet
NEW MIDDLETOWN -- Village council's Safety Committee will meet at 6:30 p.m. the second Monday of the month at the village administration building, Councilman Richard DeBucci announced.
The meetings will precede the regular monthly council meetings, which are held at 7 p.m. and are open to the public.
