Beedle scores 33; Blue Devils unbeaten in 12

McDonald raced to a 53-24 halftime lead to win its 12th straight game.
LOWELLVILLE -- McDonald High ran its unbeaten streak to 12 games on Friday night, defeating Lowellville 83-56 in an Inter-County League boys basketball game.
James Beedle scored 33 points for the Blue Devils (12-0, 6-0 ICL), who took control of the game by outscoring the Rockets 31-9 in the second quarter. That gave McDonald a 53-24 lead at halftime.
Mario Nero scored 28 points to lead Lowellville (7-6, 3-3). Nero made eight 3-pointers.
Mineral Ridge 63,Jackson-Milton 59
NORTH JACKSON -- Nick Diana scored 18 points and Vance Kiersey added 15 to lead Mineral Ridge in an ICL game.
The Rams (6-8, 2-4 ICL) led 34-23 at halftime.
Jackson-Milton (5-9, 1-5) was led by Mark Balent with 20 points, and Andrew Whitmer with 12.
Western Reserve 57,South Range 54
BERLIN CENTER -- Dave Ferrando scored 20 points, leading Western Reserve in an ICL game.
Chris Truitt added 12 points for the Blue Devils (5-7, 3-2 ICL). Chris Tofilski had 11 points and 11 rebounds. Brock Christie finished with five assists.
Dan Holloway paced South Range (4-5, 1-4) with 15 points, and David Rach added 12. Brian Crawford had 10 points and two assists, and Mike Leskosky had six rebounds.
Canton Timken 66, Wilson 43
CANTON -- Jeromy Martin scored 23 points for Timken.
Julian Westey added 16 points and Cartz Hubbard scored 10 for the Trojans (4-8, 3-1 City Series), who led 20-3 after the first quarter.
Justin Maxwell scored 11 points and William Johnson added 10 to lead Wilson (2-10, 1-3).
Canton GlenOak 83, Boardman 43
BOARDMAN -- GlenOak took control early with a 25-4 first quarter on the day Coach Jackie Greynolds Jr's father, legendary Barberton basketball coach Jackie Greynolds Sr., passed away.
GlenOak (8-3, 1-3) hit seven 3-pointers and led 45-15 in the Federal League contest. David Miller, Eric McCollum and Nate West led the Eagles with 15, 14 and 13 points, respectively.
Jon Kocon had a game-high 16 points for Boardman (5-7, 0-4).
Lake 43, Fitch 39
UNIONTOWN -- James Wallace scored 12 points for Fitch, which lost its third consecutive game in the Federal League.
Stas Cherney added 11 points and 10 rebounds for the Falcons (7-4, 2-3 FL).
Lake (10-2, 4-1) trailed 16-15 at halftime, but outscored Fitch 28-23 in the second half.
Niles 72, Struthers 67, OT
STRUTHERS -- Struthers' Jim Sodeman made a free throw with one second remaining in regulation to force a tie, but Niles outscored the Wildcats 12-7 in the extra session.
Bill Frech led the Red Dragons (6-5, 2-3 Metro Athletic Conference) with 21 points, and Andrew Cleary added 19. Cleary scored five points in overtime.
Sodeman paced the Wildcats (3-7, 0-5) with 15 points. Dave Mathews added 14 points and Mike Duponty scored 11.
Columbiana 47, Lisbon 45
COLUMBIANA -- Eric Bailey scored 12 points as Columbiana in a Tri-County League win.
Jared Patton added 11 points for the Clippers (8-4, 5-2 TCL), and Dave Vitko scored 10.
Corey Smith led Lisbon (9-3, 5-2) with 12 points, and Marcus Judy added 11 points and three assists. Dom DeFilippo had 10 points and he shared rebounding honors with teammate Tim McClester with five each.
East Palestine 71, Leetonia 59
EAST PALESTINE -- Bret Young scored 29 points and reached 1,000 for his career, leading East Palestine in the TCL game.
Joe Thompson added 17 points and a game-high 11 rebounds for the Bulldogs (2-10, 2-5), who have won two straight. Jake Harvey finished with 12 points and four assists.
Andy Kissier scored 17 points for Leetonia (2-10, 0-7). Ryan Weikert added 13 and Corey Creamer scored 11.
Youngstown Christian 67, Ledgemont 47
YOUNGSTOWN -- The Eagles won their third consecutive East Suburban Conference game and moved into second place.
Christian led 37-30 at halftime and pulled away with a 24-11 fourth-quarter spurt.
Jared VanArsdale and Dominique Vitullo paced the Eagles with 15 points and seven rebounds each, and Aaron Agresta chipped in nine points and nine boards.
Ledgemont, now 2-3 in the ESC, received 13 points from Joe O'Donnell and 10 from Mark Warmeling.
West Branch 50, Northwest 35
BELOIT -- Marc Carle tossed in 19 points and Shane Young added 10 for West Branch (4-8, 3-6 Northeastern Buckeye Conference).
Mike Fugate had six assists for the Warriors.
Kevin Stacy led Northwest (4-6, 3-6) with 13 points.
