GIRLS BASKETBALL Salem, Canfield and Alliance win in MAC



POLAND -- Kelly Roelen scored 11 points, leading state-ranked Salem High to a 55-21 victory over Poland in a Metro Athletic Conference game on Wednesday.
The Quakers (11-0, 6-0 MAC) held Poland to six points through three quarters, building a 40-point lead.
Jessica Hamilton added eight rebounds for Salem, and Laci Meals had six steals.
Erin Hawkins led Poland (3-8) with 10 points. Kashel Porch had five rebounds for the Bulldogs.
Canfield 57, Struthers 26
STRUTHERS -- Canfield kept pace in the MAC standings with its win over the Wildcats.
Melissa West scored 16 points to lead all scorers, and Kate Popovec added 12 for the Cardinals (8-4, 4-1), who led 14-9 after the first quarter and 31-16 at halftime.
Struthers (3-9, 3-3) was led by Cole Robenolt, who finished with 10 points.
Alliance 37, Niles 27
ALLIANCE -- Megan Geiger scored 11 points to lead Alliance to its first win of the season.
The Aviators (1-12, 1-5 MAC) trailed 11-2 at the end of the first quarter, but outscored the Red Dragons 13-7 in the second period and 14-1 in the third to take control.
Niles (1-12, 0-6) was led by Jessica Pallante, who scored 12 points.
West Branch 49, Minerva 41
MINERVA -- Stacy Braden scored 20 points as West Branch remained undefeated in the Northeastern Buckeye Conference.
Tori Arndt added 12 points and 13 rebounds for West Branch (8-1, 6-0) and Evelyn Woods had 10.
Misti Anderson lead Minerva (6-6, 4-4) with 12 points.
