Champion holds on in overtime



Jessica Wood scored 27 points to lead the Golden Flashes.
CHAMPION -- Champion High kept pace with Girard in the Trumbull Athletic Conference standings, edging Lakeview 49-47 in overtime on Monday night.
Jessica Wood scored 27 points for the Golden Flashes (7-3, 5-1 TAC), who led the game at every stop, except for the 38-38 tie at the end of regulation. Heather Pegg had 12 rebounds for Champion.
Lakeview (8-4, 3-3) was led by Lindsay Whetzel, who scored 15 points.
Girard 46, Hubbard 26
GIRARD -- Cachet Murray scored 22 points and had a team-best 10 rebounds, leading Girard to its 12th straight win.
Jessica Bowser added 11 points for the Indians (12-0, 6-0 TAC), who led 15-11 at halftime, then outscored the Eagles 25-7 in the third period.
Callie Oyler scored 11 points for Hubbard (2-9, 1-5).
Brookfield 48, Liberty 45
LIBERTY -- Brookfield outscored the hosts 11-8 in the fourth quarter to claim the TAC matchup.
Raquel Brenner scored a game-high 19 points, including seven in the second quarter, to lead Brookfield (9-3, 5-1). Lauren Gentile chipped in 11 points and five rebounds, and Jacki Rust had four assists.
Michelle Dykes had 16 points for Liberty (5-7, 1-5) and Ashley White scored 14.
Sharon 58, Commodore Perry 25
SHARON -- Brittney Chatles scored 19 points and pulled down 19 rebounds, both team-highs, for Sharon.
Katie Kelly added 11 points for the Tigers (11-3), who led 14-5 after the first quarter and 30-7 at halftime.
Mathews 55, Badger 40
VIENNA -- Tara Ford scored nine of her game-high 20 points in the fourth quarter as Mathews pulled away with a 21-11 fourth-quarter run.
Melissa Morrison had 12 points and Melanie Roscoe totaled 12 points and 19 rebounds for the Mustangs (11-1, 5-1).
Samantha Bonar paced Badger (6-6, 4-2) with 13 points.
