NEW CASTLE, Pa. -- Growth in Neshannock Township is increasing the township's tax base.
Township Secretary Leslie Bucci said at Wednesday's township supervisors meeting that a total of $1.8 million in assessed property has been placed on the township tax docket recently. Included in the new assessments are five new houses, two condominiums and a commercial building.
In other business, supervisors approved a request to place a referendum for small games of chance on the May Primary election ballot. Anita Attisano, president of the St. Camilus Church women's guild, had requested the referendum be put on the ballot.
Pennsylvania law requires voters of each municipality to approve small games of chance before the games can be operated.
Supervisor John DiCola Jr. noted that small games of chance referendums have been on the ballot in the township twice before and defeated both times.
Small games of chance include daily drawings, raffles and 50/50 drawings.
