AREA COLLEGE ROUNDUP Westminster women roll past Altoona, 66-51
ALTOONA, Pa. -- Erica Tallo had game-highs of 19 points and 11 rebounds, leading Westminster College to a 66-51 non-conference victory over Penn State-Altoona Monday night.
Westminster never trailed, leading 32-25 at halftime. PS-Altoona opened the second half with a 7-2 run to cut the Westminster lead to two points (34-32) with 17:49 to play, but the Titans answered with an 11-2 run to build an 11-point margin (45-34) with 15:13 to go. The Lions would get no closer than nine points the rest of the way.
Desiree Sterling added 13 points for Westminster (16-6), which has won three straight games. Alyson Gasper had four steals for the Titans.
PS-Altoona (8-15) was paced by Krystal Ferry with 13 points.
Hiram 68, Chatham 55
PITTSBURGH, Pa. -- Cassie Bedard scored 20 points on 9-of-12 shooting, to lead Hiram.
Bedard also had six rebounds for the Terriers (8-15). Abbey Gorby added 10 points, making 2-of-4 from 3-point range, and pulled down five rebounds. Valerie Goudy had a team-high five steals.
Hiram started the game quickly, leading 22-3.
