AKRON -- Sophomore sprinter Danielle Bolt won the 60-meter dash in a school-record time of 7.56 seconds at the Akron Open Saturday.
Bolt also ran a personal-best time of 25.05 in the 200 to place second, while Aaliyah Gillespie also set a school record in the 60-meter hurdles (8.60).
Jeanna Cunningham placed fourth in the 400 with a personal-best time of 57.37 and Gillespie added a fifth-place spot in the 60 dash (7.85).
Cunningham and Gillespie teamed up with Yandeh Joh and Bolt to place fourth in the 4x400 relay.
In the jumping events, Carly Youlton placed sixth in the triple jump (37 feet, 1 inch) and sixth in the long jump (17-2 1/4) while Joh was fifth in the long jump (17-5 1/2). Bethany Anderson took second in the weight throw with a personal-best mark of 51-11 and added a third-place finish in the invitational shot put (43-9 3/4).
Lindsey Hill placed third in the shot put (41-7 3/4) while Amy Hill placed fourth (41-4 1/4).
Katy Williams placed third in the weight throw (51-5 3/4) while Amy Hill was seventh (46-8 1/4) and Lindsay Cobey was ninth (43-11 3/4).
On the men's side, Jeremy Riehm placed third in the 5,000 with a personal-best mark of 14:56.60, while R.D. Goodright placed seventh in the mile (4:22.33) and Scott Streiner placed 10th in the 200 (22.60).
Jason Greenamyer placed sixth in the long jump (21-3 1/2) and seventh in the high jump.
Drew Weizer placed fifth in the weight throw (54-11 1/4) while Nick Rodland was 11th in the shot put (46-2 1/2) and Joe Lahmon was 12th in the weight throw (47-6 1/4).
Women's basketball
YOUNGSTOWN -- Coach Tisha Hill will hold four camps this summer.
There will be a Junior Day Camp June 9-10, a Team Camp June 11-12, an Individual Camp June 13-16, and a Shooting Camp June 20-23.

Baseball
INDIANAPOLIS -- Youngstown State was picked third in the Horizon League preseason poll of coaches Wednesday.
YSU received one first-place vote, one for second, one for third, one for fourth and one vote for fifth place.
Illinois-Chicago received five first-place votes to head the field with 25 points while UW-Milwaukee finished second with 17 points. Butler received 14 points to finish fourth while Cleveland State was fifth with 12 points and Wright State finished sixth with seven.
The Penguins will open the season Feb. 19 against Dayton.

Seven teamsin final girls poll
COLUMBUS -- Seven local teams were ranked in the final Associated Press high school girls basketball poll.
Unbeaten Girard and Salem finished the highest among local schools. The Indians were No. 4 in Division III, and Salem was No. 4 in Div. II.
Ursuline finished No. 8 in Div. III, while Lowellville was No. 8 in Div. IV and West Branch was No. 8 in Div. II.
Boardman finished 11th in Div. I and Mathews was 11th in Div. IV.

Feller honored
CLEVELAND -- Hall of Famer Bob Feller has written five books, and never once did the Indians pitcher tell a story that would shame one of his teammates.
One of baseball's all-time best pitchers, Feller was honored at the Cleveland Sports Awards on Wednesday night, receiving the lifetime achievement award.
Hosted by Ahmad Rashad, the awards dinner was attended by many of Cleveland's top current athletes and sports personalities. Ohio State wide receiver/punt returner Ted Ginn Jr. was named the area's top college athlete.
Romeo Crennel made his first public appearance since being named the Browns new coach on Tuesday and received a warm reception from the crowd.

NCAA committeerecommends replay
INDIANAPOLIS -- An NCAA committee recommended Wednesday that all schools and conferences be allowed to use a video replay system tested last season in the Big Ten.
The recommendation by the Football Rules Committee will be considered by an oversight panel Feb. 24 and, if approved, will be put in place for the regular season this fall.
Under Wednesday's recommendation, any conference that wants to use video replay must confirm its plans with the rules committee by June 1.
The video replay would not be used in bowl games or in NCAA championships below the Division I level.
Owens, Seymourwill sit out Pro Bowl
KAPOLEI, Hawaii -- Philadelphia receiver Terrell Owens and New England defensive end Richard Seymour will sit out the Pro Bowl because of injuries.
Owens, who played exceptionally well on his surgically repaired ankle in the Super Bowl, was replaced by St. Louis receiver Torry Holt. Seymour, who has a minor knee injury, was replaced by Jacksonville's John Henderson on the AFC squad.
