Dick Clarks get ready for'New Year's Rockin' Eve'
BURBANK, Calif. -- Dick Clark, who suffered a stroke last December, won't be in a wheelchair when he appears on ABC's "New Year's Rockin' Eve," says co-host Ryan Seacrest. It will be the 76-year-old Clark's first TV appearance since his stroke, which forced him to bow out of last year's show. "I'm not a doctor and I'm not his wife, so I don't see him on a daily basis, but he will not be in a wheelchair on the telecast," Seacrest told AP Radio in a recent interview. Seacrest, who will make his debut as co-host of the New Year's Eve special, said Clark "has gotten better and better each day. I don't think he is a hundred percent, but I think he's better than he was last week and better than he was six months ago." Seacrest and Clark will appear from New York, where the ball will drop in Times Square in the traditional countdown to midnight. Co-host Hilary Duff will anchor and perform at the Hollywood segment of the show. The 34th annual "New Year's Rockin' Eve" will air Saturday starting at 10 p.m. (EST).
Supermodel would liketo direct story of her life
HONG KONG -- Eva Herzigova says she wants to direct a movie about her Cinderella-like life, a Hong Kong magazine reports in its January issue. The Czech supermodel, who shot to fame in the 1990s with the Miss Wonderbra ad campaign, talked about her directing ambitions in an interview with Prestige Hong Kong. "I would like to direct a movie, but not a glossy feature film. I am thinking it would be more like a full-length documentary type of movie about my life," the 32-year-old Herzigova was quoted as saying. "It would definitely be autobiographical. It would be about a girl from the Eastern bloc who makes it in the fashion world. You know, a Cinderella story," she said. Herzigova appeared in the 2004 film "Modigliani."
Photog faces no chargein crash with Lohan
LOS ANGELES -- The photographer whose collision with Lindsay Lohan helped prompt California to adopt an anti-paparazzi law won't be charged with a crime, the district attorney's office said. There was no evidence that photographer Galo Cesar Ramirez deliberately crashed his minivan into the 19-year-old actress' Mercedes-Benz, Deputy District Attorney William Hodgman said Wednesday. "Based upon the damage sustained to both the victim's and the suspect's cars it appears that, although the suspect was most likely driving carelessly when he collided with the victim's car, it was not an intentional assault," Hodgman said. Ramirez, 24, was one of several photographers following Lohan from a trendy Los Angeles restaurant May 31 when she made a U-turn and their cars collided. No one was hurt. Lohan said she was trying to get away from the paparazzi when the crash occurred. Hodgman told the Los Angeles Times a wider investigation prompted by the crash was continuing, adding it was possible that conspiracy charges could eventually be brought against people responsible for orchestrating risky celebrity pursuits. The crash was credited with prompting Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger to sign into law a measure allowing celebrities to collect large damage awards from paparazzi who harass them.
