The public can drop off used live Christmas trees for recycling by the Green Team Recycling Division of Mahoning County. The trees can be dropped off from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday from Monday to Jan. 31. Trees will be chipped to make mulch for use by each community. All decorations are to be removed from trees before they are dropped off at the following locations (listed by township or incorporation):
Austintown: Township Park, 6000 Kirk Road.
Berlin: Township building, U.S. Route 224.
Boardman: Township composting site, Maple Avenue (open 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. only).
Campbell: Roosevelt Park, Struthers-Liberty Road.
Canfield City and Township: Cardinal Joint Fire District fire station, 5007 Messerly Road.
Craig Beach: Mahoning Avenue, across from Miller Marine Equipment.
Ellsworth: Township building, state Route 45.
Goshen: Township maintenance garage, 12649 Seacrist Road.
Green: Township cemetery, state Route 165 and Beaver Creek Road.
Jackson: Township building, 10613 Mahoning Ave.
Lowellville: Village street department, 58 McGaffney Ave.
Milton: Mahoning Avenue boat launch ramp open parking lot.
Poland: Township road department, 7508 Clingan Road.
Smith: Township building, 846 N. Johnson Road, Sebring.
Springfield: 10720 Struthers Road, next to water tower.
Struthers: City street department garage, 6 Elm St.
Recycling centers are open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. unless otherwise noted. Wrapping paper and greeting cards also may be recycled at drop-off sites and should be placed in bins marked for newspapers and magazines.
