Tartans slip past Titans

NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. -- Carnegie Mellon's Katie White scored off a stolen inbounds pass for the game-winning points with nine seconds to play as the Tartans overcame a career night by Westminster's Desiree Sterling to win 55-54 on Wednesday.
Sterling, a junior guard from Newton Falls, scored a career-high 26 points on 9 of 14 shooting and added five assists for the Titans (1-9).
Trailing 53-51 in the final minute, Sterling made a 3-pointer with 36 seconds to play to give the Titans a 54-53 lead. After a Carnegie Mellon miss, Westminster had a chance to ice the game but the inbounds pass with 12 seconds to play was stolen by CMU's Rachelle Roll, setting up White's game-winning shot.
The Titans missed two potential game-winning shots in the final four seconds of the contest.
Junior forward Talley Felger (Springfield) added a game-high 10 rebounds for the Titans (1-9).
Thiel 65, Kenyon 45
GAMBIER, Ohio -- Junior forward Fontella Jones (Farrell) had 14 points and seven rebounds in a losing effort for Thiel (2-8).
Nicole Valentino (Sharon) added eight points.
The Ladies (10-0) were led by Katy Zeanah's 18-point, 18-rebound effort. Kenyon jumped out to a 25-9 lead midway through the first period before going into the break with a 43-18 edge. The Ladies pushed their lead to 25 early in the second half.
Edinboro 68, Geneva 69
EDINBORO, Pa. -- Geneva's Jen Rawding scored 19 points -- 15 in the second half -- but it wasn't enough as the Golden Tornadoes' rally came up short.
Allyson Clark added 16 points and six rebounds off the bench for Geneva (4-3), which outscored Edinboro 36-29 in the second half.
Maria Divecchio led the Scots (7-2) with 17 points.
Bloomsburg 57, Slippery Rock 50
SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. -- Kristen Bonner scored 11 points to lead The Rock (5-5), which couldn't hold an 11-point first half lead.
Amanda Chojnacki had 10 points and Angela Greaser added seven rebounds for Slippery Rock.
Men
SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. -- Dejan Jancic had 17 points and 13 rebounds but The Rock couldn't overcome a 45-35 halftime deficit, falling to Bloomsburg 78-70.
Matt Hale had 17 points and Erroll Robinson added 16 for Slippery Rock (1-8).
Billy Bryan scored 27 points to lead four players in double figures for Bloomsburg (3-8).
