Teen ruled insane in death of brother

CINCINNATI (AP) -- A 17-year-old boy charged with using a baseball bat to beat his brother to death has been found innocent by reason of insanity and sent to a mental hospital.
Hamilton County Common Pleas Judge Dennis Helmick agreed with prosecutors and Andrew Warrington's defense Friday that the teen did not know what he was doing was wrong.
Warrington, then 16, was accused of beating his 17-year-old brother, John, with a bat at least 20 times at the family's home in May. Construction workers spotted him washing blood from his hands in a public fountain in his upscale neighborhood and called 911.
Warrington was indicted on a murder charge earlier this month after a juvenile court judge ruled he was competent to stand trial as an adult.
Four reports from psychiatrists and psychologists concluded that the teen suffers from paranoid schizophrenia.
He cannot be released from Summit Behavioral Healthcare without a judge's approval.
County Prosecutor Joe Deters said the teenager believed his brother was trying to poison him and that he acted in self-defense.
