Storms knock out power in several areas in Valley

YOUNGSTOWN -- There were several power outages scattered throughout the Mahoning Valley area caused by falling limbs or trees Tuesday, said Paul Harkey, Ohio Edison area manager.
A downed tree limb caused a power outage that left about 1,250 West Side residents without power, Ohio Edison area manager Paul Harkey said.
Rainy weather caused the branch to fall on a primary power line about 5:30 p.m., Tuesday on U.S. Route 62, east of Bears Den Road. The company restored power to about half of its affected customers within an hour by rerouting electricity. The remaining customers had power within three hours of the initial report, Harkey said.
Crews were to start working on the others overnight, Harkey said.
