Food won't keep them from the daily rounds

EITHER FRENCH fries doused with vinegar, nor gyros dripping with sweet cucumber sauce, nor spicy hot Italian sausage sandwiches smothered in grilled green peppers and onions will keep the mail carriers from their appointed rounds.
Karen Harding, U.S. Postal Service customer relations coordinator at the Youngstown post office, said the postal service will again provide mail service and sales at the Canfield Fair, which opens today.
She said the postal service has operated the sales and service booth at the fair for many years, including all 18 years she has been a postal service employee. She said the sales and service booth near the fairgrounds central administration building is offered as a convenience for fair visitors, exhibitors and workers who need to process mail during fair week, but may not be able to travel to a local post office during postal service business hours.
Delivery system
She said postal service employees will take letters and packages mailed at the fairgrounds station to the Canfield post office twice a day. The mail will then be taken to the Youngstown post office for regular processing and delivery.
Harding said about seven postal service employees, including some postmasters and rural carriers, are working shifts at the fair throughout the week. She said there will be two or three employees at the booth per shift.
The employees will offer a special souvenir envelope at the fair, known to collectors of stamps and other postal materials as a cache envelope, Harding said. The envelope is marked as a Canfield Fair envelope and has the fair's crowing rooster and 159th fair logo.
Harding said the envelope also features the art from a new Alice in Wonderland stamp. The art shows Alice in Wonderland and the Mad Hatter, and is the second stamp of the Art of Disney collection, she said.
Fair visitors and workers can mail letters and packages, and buy stamps and other post office retail merchandise, Harding said.
Harding said the only regular postal service transaction employees cannot provide at the booth is issuing money orders.
