TRUMBULL ROUNDUP Kohuth paces Lakeview victory



He scored both touchdowns in a 14-0 win over Painesville Harvey.
PAINESVILLE -- Matt Kohuth scored two short touchdowns as Lakeview blanked Painesville Harvey 14-0 Friday.
Kohuth, a senior runningback, scored on a pair of 1-yard runs -- both in the first quarter -- for the Bulldogs.
It was the first opening-day shutout for Lakeview since the 1987 season.
Kohuth ran 17 times for 57 yards to lead Lakeview while Brett Davenport added eight carries for 47 yards.
Quarterback Kevin Albert hit on 3 of 10 passes for 11 yards and a successful conversion to Justin Williams.
The Lakeview defense recorded six quarterback sacks and the Bulldogs had more first downs, 10-8.
Brookfield 76, Conneaut 3
CONNEAUT -- Ryan Martin got Brookfield off and running as he returned the opening kickoff 79 yards for a touchdown.
He also tallied on runs of 12 and 45 yards in the first quarter.
The Warriors scored in every quarter and put the contest out of reach with a 41-3 lead at the intermission.
Robby Johnson made a 21-yard field goal for Conneaut to cut the deficit to 14-3 in the first quarter.
Carl Venzeio was the leading rusher for Brookfield with 121 yards on five carries, which included a 71-yard scamper in the fourth quarter.
Martin gained 102 yards on six attempts and the Warriors accumulated 305 yards on 36 attempts and they were 7-of-12 passing for 93.
Conneaut had minus-6 yards on 34 carries and it gained just 10 passing.
Crestview 35, LaBrae 15
LEAVITTSBURG -- Zech Parker caught a 36-yard touchdown pass from Jordan Reynolds and ran in from 15 yards for another score for the Rebels.
Coty Bilsky scored on a 3-yard run to help Crestview jump out to a 20-0 lead.
Adam Thompson, who scored on a 1-yard run, led Crestview with 149 yards rushing on 27 carries. Reynolds completed six of 13 passes for 88 yards.
For LaBrae, Eric Hart rushed for 129 yards on six carries. One was a 68-yard touchdown run.In other games, it was Champion 17, Orange 12, and Maple Heights 35, Hubbard 15. Details of these games were not reported.
