DISTRICT ROUNDUP Poland loses opener to Louisville, 18-7
Beaver Local and West Branch won, but Wilson lost.
POLAND -- Drew Kuhn scored twice and led Louisville to a season opening 18-7 victory over Poland Friday night.
Kuhn scored on a pair of 1-yard runs, while Brandon Hofpetler added a 15-yard scoring run.
Poland, which was held to just seven rushing yards, scored in the second quarter on a 4-yard-run by Brandon Beachum.
Beachum also had an interception and completed one pass for 41 yards as the Bulldogs finished with 122 yards passing.
Beaver Local 55, Minerva 21
MINERVA -- Beaver Local picked right up w it left off last season by rolling past Minerva in the opener.
Jim Bowersock led the Beavers rushing for 110 yards on 10 carries while scoring two touchdowns.
Quarterback Bobby Flint rushed for 70 yards and passed for 116 and two touchdowns.
He also scored once.
The Beavers rolled up 461 total yards, 345 on the ground.
Elyria Catholic 38,Wilson 15
ELYRIA -- Elyria Catholic posted the first six scores for a 38-0 lead before the Redmen began clicking.
Lemar McQueen's 3-yard touchdown run put the Redmen on the board in the third quarter.
McQueen connected with Tarrance Houston on a 37-yard touchdown pass late in the game.
Jarvis Tabb had two carries for 31 yards.
The Redmen fumbled nine times, losing two of them. They gained 85 yards rushing and 95 passing.
West Branch 47,Southeast 6
RAVENNA -- West Branch rolled up 463 total yards of offense in rolling past Southeast in the opener.
Warrior quarterback Matt Catania ran for one score, passed for another and also had an interception to lead the way.
Eric Balputnis scored twice for the Warriors, who had 284 yards rushing.
One of Balputnis TD's came on a 91-yard kickoff return to open the contest.
