Born in Germany and grew up in the Garfield Heights, receiving a bachelor's degree in biology and a master's degree in comparative physiology from Kent State University. Doctorate in higher education administration from the University of Arkansas.
Most recently was vice president for community and resource development at Broward Community College in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. She had previously been vice president for technical education and provost there.
Before joining BCC, she was an instructional development specialist at the University of Arkansas, director of institutional planning and research at Southern Baptist College, a faculty member and division director at Allegheny Community College, and a faculty member at Cuyahoga Community College.
Received the Best Business and Industry Partnership Award from the Florida Department of Education and Florida Chamber of Commerce and an award for excellence from the U.S. Department of Labor.
