Meeting site moved
The Mahoning County Veterans Service Commission will meet at 9 a.m. Friday at the Mahoning Veterans Memorial Building at the Canfield Fairgrounds. The commission usually meets at the county annex office building on Market Street, Youngstown.
PROMOTIONS
Sergeant in Marines
Marine Sgt. Steven A. Tucci, son of Anthony and Suzanne Tucci of Lowellville, was recently promoted to his current rank. He has been serving with the Marines Weapons Company 3/25 in Anbar Province, Iraq, since February.
Captain in Air Force
Lori A. Pluchinsky, daughter of Robert and Jewel Pluchinsky of Poland, has been promoted to the rank of captain in the Air Force and named to Squadron Section commander position with Headquarters 12 Air Force.
In the new position at Davis-Monthan Air Force Base in Tucson, Ariz., she supports the 12 Air Force commander, three group commanders and seven squadron commanders by promoting welfare, conduct, discipline and moral for more than 1,100 personnel.
Her previous squadron nominated her for the Lance P. Sijan Leadership Award, which recognizes Air Force members who demonstrate the highest qualities of leadership in the performance of their duties and the conduct of their lives.
She has won on the squadron and group level and will compete next at the wing level.
Pluchinsky, a graduate of Poland Seminary High School and Youngstown State University, has been in the Air Force four years.

Navy: Navy Seaman Apprentice Elizabeth B. Valenzuela, daughter of Teresa L. Shumate of Youngstown and Freddie Valenzuela of Granada Hills, Calif.
Air Force: Airman Jennifer N. Maravola (Girard High School '03), daughter of Ralph and Paulette Maravola of Girard.
