YOUNGSTOWN -- The Penguin Gameday television show will make its 2005 debut Aug. 31, at 7 p.m. live from Beede Field at Stambaugh Stadium.
Penguin Gameday will be aired on both WFMJ (21) and WBCB (14).
The episode will highlight the season opener against Slippery Rock. The YSU Athletic Department is inviting area fans to be part of the first show live from Stambaugh Stadium. The first 500 fans will receive a pair of game tickets to the Slippery Rock game. The North field gate will be open for fans at 6 p.m.
Soccer
YOUNGSTOWN -- The YSU women's soccer team opens its season today at Northern Michigan.
Then on Sunday, an alumni game at 10:30 a.m. will precede the Penguins' home opener against Robert Morris at 1 p.m.
Following the game there will be a free youth clinic for boys and girls ages 5-13.

Miller judgesWBO showdown
MINERAL RIDGE -- Boxing Judge Tom Miller of Mineral Ridge judged last Saturday's World Boxing Organization's Junior Flyweight World championship fight between Hugo Cazaves of Mexico and Alex Sanchez of Puerto Rico.
The fight won by Cazaves was Miller's 27th world title bout who is an international amateur and professional boxing judge.
He will be judge at an amateur show in Salem Saturday.
Zack Page to fight
CLEVELAND -- Warren cruiserweight Zack Page (8-2, 4 knockouts) goes after his eighth consecutive victory tonight on an eight-bout card at the Wolstein Center in a six-round fight against Anthony Williams (5-5-1, 2 KOs) from Buckley, W. Va.
TV bout
NORMAN, Okla. -- Middleweight Ted Muller (16-3), managed by Pat Nelson, will fight Allen Green (16-0) in a 10-round co-feature at the Thunderbird Cassino tonight.
The Muller-Green fight will be on ESPN2's Friday Night Fights at 9 p.m.
Elzy, Johnsonare nominated
SAN ANTONIO -- Anthony Ezly of Warren JFK and Derrell Johnson of Mooney were nominated for the U.S. Army All-American Bowl, to be played at the Alamodome on Jan. 7, 2006.
They are among 400 high school players nominated for the game.
CHL expansion
PRESCOTT VALLEY, Ariz. -- The Central Hockey League announced its second expansion franchise for the 2006-07 season.
Prescott Valley, Ariz., will play in a new facility in 2006.
The Central Hockey League opens its 14th season Oct. 21.
Salem record
Von Goll set a school record of 36 for Salem High's girls golf team in a 174-185 loss to Canfield Thursday night at Flying B.
Junior football
The Mahoning Valley Jr. Football League will kick off its season Saturday.
At Firestone Park in Columbiana, Lowellville will play Crestview, with the junior varsity game at 3 p.m. and the varsity to follow.
Leetonia will play Columbiana at 6 p.m. (JVs) and 7:30 p.m.

*ALOHA, Ore. -- Dana Quigley made a 45 1/2-foot eagle putt to close out the first round of the Tradition on Thursday.
The putt on No. 18 gave Quigley 5-under 67 and a share of the lead at the Tradition, the final major of the year on the Champions Tour.
