Trustees award contract for paving roads

POLAND -- Parts of nine township streets will be paved this year.
During a special meeting Wednesday, township trustees awarded a contract for $94,211 to Shelly & amp; Sands Inc. of Girard for 2005 road paving.
The Girard company submitted the lowest of the three bids for the project.
The Shelly Co. of Twinsburg bid $109,073, and the bid for Cleveland Asphalt of Bessemer, Pa., was $98,362.
The amount of road to be paved is just less than two miles, which is comparable to what the township does annually, said Administrator James Scharville.
The township has a regular maintenance schedule and trustees try to address the streets in most need of paving each year, he said.
Parts of Hunters Hill, Rocky Ledge Drive, Burgess Road, Acorn Court, Red Maple Lane, Harvest Run Trail, Robinson Road, Annie Street and Bedford Road are to be paved.
The administrator said company representatives indicated that they would schedule the project to begin next month.
