WARREN -- A tentative settlement between Trumbull County commissioners and the former Trumbull County Convention and Visitor's Bureau may give a boost to the Trumbull County Fair.
At the commissioners meeting Wednesday, Jason Earnhart, assistant Trumbull County prosecutor, announced that a settlement was reached Friday with the bureau but that the court order had not yet been signed by visiting Judge Thomas Patrick Curran.
A final $52,000 was left for the judge to distribute after an earlier decision on money the commissioners had allotted to the bureau from lodging taxes before it ceased operations.
Of the $52,000, $25,000 will go back to the convention and visitor's bureau for remaining debts and $20,000 will go to the fair board to bring a big-name act to the fair, Earnhart said.
An additional $4,710 will go to the Trumbull County MetroParks Board, and $2,500 will remain undistributed for one year for unexpected expenses, Earnhart said.
Richard Roscoe, fair board president, said the $20,000 will be added to some other money to try to bring a big-name act to the fair, maybe in 2006. "I'm excited about it," he said.
The fair has featured entertainers such as Johnny Cash, Louise Mandrell, Alabama and Box Car Willie in years past, Roscoe noted.
