Leeson powers Crestview to 6-1 victory



Canfield and West Branch played a scoreless tie.
HANOVERTON -- Cory Leeson scored three goals and had an assist as Crestview posted a 6-1 victory over United Tuesday in a boys soccer match.
The Rebels (1-0) scored two goals in the first half, then put the contest away with four more in the second half.
James Frost added two goals and two assists, while Danny Jones had a goal and an assist. David Felger and Mitchell See each had an assist.
Matt Houk scored the goal for the Golden Eagles (0-1).
Canfield 0, West Branch 0
CANFIELD -- Canfield High's goaltender Eric Clayton, a sophomore, made 13 saves in his first varsity game.
The Warriors' goalkeeper Shane Young made 14 saves.
Girls soccer
KINSMAN -- Shannon Sudon scored four goals as the Badger High girls soccer team turned back Girard, 8-3.
The Braves led 5-2 at intermission and the Indians couldn't recover.
Hannah Miller added two goals, while Jessica White and Sarah Dunfee each had one. Miller had three assists, Gayla Arnold two and Amanda Gordon, Taylor Phillips and Sudon one apiece.
Crissy Glass pace Girard with two goals and Jaime Schnarrs had one. Stacy Mann, Glass and Schnarrs each had an assist.
Girard's goalie Ashley Esposito made 15 saves.
Late Monday
Poland 4, Chagrin Falls 2
POLAND -- The Bulldogs (1-0) scored three of their goals in the first half, then added an insurance goal in the second half to prevail in a boys game.
Poland's Chris Moore scored to break a 2-2 tie with 8:12 remaining in the first half.
Dain Malaniak scored twice during the first 20 minutes of play, but each time Chagrin Falls (0-1) rallied that tied the score at 2-2.
Blake Rhein of Poland scored with 19:14 remaining in the second half and Chagrin Falls couldn't catch up.
