Plans right on track for annual Heart Walk

The goal for this year's event is to raise $232,000.
YOUNGSTOWN -- "Change Tomorrow Today" is the theme chosen for the American Heart Association's annual Heart Walk planned for Sept. 17 on the track at Youngstown State University.
The noncompetitive walk will raise funds to support heart disease and stroke research and education programs in the greater Youngstown community.
More than 1,500 Mahoning Valley residents from the tri-county area are expected to participate in the event. Teams will be comprised of employees from local companies and their friends and family members of all ages.
Heart disease or stroke survivors taking part in the walk will wear red caps emblazoned with the slogan, "Fighting Back."
Activities will begin at 9:30 a.m. with refreshments and a brief ceremony, and the walk will begin at 10 and will cover a scenic 1.2-mile route through the campus at YSU.
Buzz Pishkur and Stephanie Shaw are co-chairmen for the walk.
