Elections panel to discuss need for equipment

WARREN -- The Trumbull County Board of Elections will hold a special meeting at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday to discuss the need for additional voting equipment leading up to this November's general election.
Rokey Suleman II, the board's deputy director, said the additional equipment would cost several thousand dollars.
The board this fall will launch touch-screen voting with equipment paid for by the federal government through the state, but seeks a few more devices which the county would have to pay for. The county's new voting system cost about $2 million.
The board on Friday certified the Aug. 2 election results. There were provisional ballots cast by people who were deemed qualified voters, Suleman said, which changed the election numbers for three school board levy requests.
The new vote totals did not change the outcome of any of the levies.
The new vote totals are:
UGirard Local Schools: 1,194 for; 2,434 against.
ULakeview Local Schools: 1,665 for; 2,063 against.
UJackson-Milton Local Schools -- Trumbull County results: 5 for; 42 against.
