Crew posts 1-0 win in rain delayed match

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) -- Cornell Glen scored in the 81st minute to give the Columbus Crew a 1-0 victory over FC Dallas on Saturday in a rain-delayed match.
Glen redirected a pass from Crew midfielder Chris Henderson, who had maneuvered past Clarence Goodson on the endline and found space to slip a pass to Glen inside the Dallas penalty area.
Dallas defender Chris Gbandi was spared an own-goal on the play, despite appearing to knock Glen's shot into the back of his own net. Officials judged the ball would have crossed the goal line anyway.
Columbus goalkeeper Jonny Walker made two athletic saves in second half added time to preserve the win for the Crew (7-12-3).
Dallas (10-7-5) is winless in its last seven games. Its last victory came against Colorado on June 25.
Referee Kevin Stott halted play in the 21st minute as a heavy thunderstorm rolled over central Ohio. Play resumed after 40 minutes.
Last week in New Jersey, Columbus sat through a 92-minute delay in its game against the MetroStars.
