BOARDMAN -- Residents can check police reports, direct concerns to the road department and review the fire department's monthly activity summary online.
Tammi Rush, the township's information technology coordinator, has updated the township Web site at www.boardmantwp.com with additional information.
Elaine Mancini, trustee chairwoman, said that trustees decided upon hiring the technology coordinator, they wanted the Web site revamped.
"We had just a generic Web site," Mancini said. "People really couldn't interact with us a lot."
The site previously included general information on department heads, meeting times and the locations of offices.
Rush worked with the department heads to get information they wanted the public to have access to on the Web site, the trustee said.
The police department portion of the site offers information on department programs as well as rundowns on police accident reports, 24-hour dispatch call summaries and daily significant-activity reports.
Fighting auto theft
Registration forms for the department's new combat-auto-theft initiative also are available at the site. People sign up for the program, providing information to police about the vehicle, its owners and authorized drivers. They also sign an agreement that allows police to stop the car if it's found operating between 1 and 5 a.m.
Participants in CAT get a decal to place in their cars that police on patrol can see.
Under zoning, comparisons of permits issued monthly, valuations and fees for this year and last also may be accessed.
The road department's section enables residents to report concerns to the department. Minutes of trustee meetings also are posted, and there are links to other Web sites including Boardman Park and a site to update the public on the progress of the U.S. Route 224 traffic study.
"There's more information available to the public and it's more user-friendly and allows us to hear back from the public," Mancini said.
