THE MARQUEES Theater awards to be given

The 2nd Annual Marquee Awards will be held Saturday night at the Saxon Club in Youngstown. It will be the first time that the program has been open to all Youngstown area community theaters. Nominations in 40 categories were announced about a month ago. Patterned after the Broadway Tony Awards, the Marquees function in much the same way as the New York awards. An actor or technician who is voted as the best in a specific category for a single theater will reign as best in that category over the entire area.
Award Committee Chairman J.E.Ballantyne Jr. said that response to the awards has been very strong from both the entertainment sector and the public.
The evening will begin at the Saxon Club with a cash-bar cocktail hour at 6 p.m. Dinner will be served at 7 o'clock, and the awards ceremony will start at 8 p.m.
