Meridian Services selectsfour new board members
YOUNGSTOWN -- Meridian Services Inc. has announced the election of four new board members, each to serve a three-year term. They are Julie Ault, director of marketing and public relations for Covelli Enterprises; Dr. Joseph Mosca, professor and chairman of the department of social work at Youngstown State University; David Stauffer, chief financial officer for Concord Health Care Inc.; and former Youngstown Mayor Patrick Ungaro. Continuing their service as board members in 2005-06 are board President Dennis Krancevich, National City Bank; Vice President Yvonne Mathis, NEOUCOM; Treasurer June Johnson, Home Savings; Secretary Robert J. Papa; Arlene Bahar, Youngstown city council; Kenneth Carano, Ohio House of Representatives; and the Rev. Thomas Fortini.
Columbus schools still failing education test
COLUMBUS -- Even in Ohio's top-performing school districts, black students are struggling to match the scores of white students, according to state student achievement test results released Tuesday.Statewide, the gap between white and black seventh-grade students in the mathematics exam was 38.7 points, the Ohio Department of Education said.
