YOUNGSTOWN -- One of two men charged in a May 7 homicide will stand trial in October. William A. Williams, 23, of New York Avenue, was arraigned Tuesday in Mahoning County Common Pleas Court by Judge Maureen A. Sweeney. He is being held without bond. He will go on trial Oct. 5 before Judge Sweeney. Williams and Janero Mitchell, 19, also of New York Avenue, are charged in the shooting death of Anthony McBride, 39. McBride, described as homeless, was found shot to death on the sidewalk on Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard. Police said the motive was retaliation over a break-in at a Westlake Terrace apartment.

Stepson's charge bound
YOUNGSTOWN -- A murder charge filed against Donni L. Feagin, 21, of Hilton Avenue was bound over to a Mahoning County grand jury after he waived a preliminary hearing Tuesday in municipal court. Feagin is accused of shooting his stepfather to death July 28. Police said John T. Bowers, 49, was shot in the abdomen around 12:15 a.m. that day during a fight with his estranged wife at her home on Hilton. Bowers died about four hours later at St. Elizabeth Health Center.
Boy injured in drive-by
YOUNGSTOWN -- A 16-year-old Rush Boulevard boy was shot in his left index finger as he walked along South Avenue around 9 p.m. Monday, police said. The boy, on his way to a convenience store, said he heard five or six shots between Laclede and East Dewey avenues and then realized he had been shot. The boy said he saw an arm protruding from a vehicle passing by but couldn't describe the shooter or vehicle, reports show. He was treated at Forum Health Northside Medical Center.
Shots fired at car, house
YOUNGSTOWN -- Some shots fired at a Chevrolet Blazer parked in a driveway in the 2200 block of Selma Avenue on the North Side went astray at 5:15 p.m. Monday and penetrated the front door of a neighbor's house, police said. The unintended victim's door had two bullet holes in it, and the window was shot out. Next door, a man said his grandson had been sitting in the Blazer in the driveway when shots were fired from a silver Dodge Intrepid passing by. All the Blazer's windows were shot out, police said. Neighbors heard 15 to 20 shots. Police recovered two casings from the street. No injuries were reported.
Bullet found in home
YOUNGSTOWN -- A 77-year-old Roxbury Avenue man found a bullet hole in a second-story window at his home Monday afternoon and called police. The South Side resident said he wasn't sure when the window was struck by a bullet but remembered hearing a loud noise at 8:45 p.m. Sunday. Police took a bullet that was found on the floor near the window. The victim told police that he has no enemies.
