Hollern to graduate with citizen award

YOUNGSTOWN -- Thomas R. Hollern, departing area president of National City Bank's Northeast Region, will receive a doctor of humane letters degree at Youngstown State University's summer commencement at 10 a.m. Saturday in Beeghly Center.
About 500 students will receive undergraduate and graduate degrees at the ceremony.
James D. Holbrook of Leavittsburg, receiving a bachelor's in applied science degree in electrical engineering technology, will be the student speaker.
Hollern, of Canfield, received the YSU Distinguished Citizen Award last week. The annual award, the highest honor bestowed by YSU, is given to an area leader who has rendered exceptional service to the community.
Hollern is past chairman, president and CEO of Ohio Bancorp, and past president and CEO of Dollar Saving and Trust Co. As an active community leader, Hollern serves on the boards of a wide range of organizations.
Holbrook has been working in the electrical industry since 1997 and has been employed since October 2001 at Scheeser Buckley Mayfield Inc. Consulting Engineers, based in Akron.
After graduation, Holbrook plans to continue employment with the firm, and become a member of the Illuminating Engineering Society of North America in the fall.
