BOOK SALES
XFriends of the Campbell Public Library will have a book sale from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at the library, corner of 12th Street and Sanderson Avenue. All books will be reasonably priced.
FESTIVALS
XVendors are invited to participate in a Herb Fest to be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Plant's Herb Farm, 104 S. Foster Road, Mercer, Pa. There will be displays, demonstrations, handcrafted products and herbs. Oregano is the herb of the year. Participants are asked to take a favorite dish and recipe to be judged. FUND-RAISERS
XMahoning County CASA Program is sponsoring a $1,000 Wal-Mart shopping spree in conjunction with fall volunteer recruitment. Only 500 tickets will be sold for the event to be held Aug. 20, 21, 27 and 28 at Austintown Wal-Mart. The $5 donations will be used for volunteer training. The drawing will be Aug. 29. XDowntown Youngstown Kiwanis Club will hold a golf outing at 11 a.m. Thursday at Reserve Run Golf Course, East Western Reserve Road, and a fish fry at 5 p.m. at the pavilion of the Saxon Club on Meridian Road. XBMW's Ninth Annual Ultimate Drive fund-raising event for the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation is scheduled from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sept. 12 at Preston BMW, 3843 Youngstown-Warren Road S.E. The public is invited to test drive the BMWs when they arrive. For every mile a car is driven during the Ultimate Drive, $1 is donated to the Komen Foundation. The drive consists of two fleets of 19 Titanium Silver BMWs with a pink ribbon graphic. Each fleet is led by a 645-Ci signature car, which is signed by everyone who test drives one of the cars during the program. SALES
XVienna Presbyterian Church, 4295 Warren Sharon Road, Vienna, will hold a garage sale from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday. Also featured will be a bake sale and a basket raffle, and refreshments will be available.
XA farmers market and bake sale will be held from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday at West Middlesex United Methodist Church, 3044 E. Main St., West Middlesex, Pa.
TOURS
XStruthers Historical Society is sponsoring a fall bus trip for residents or history buffs that will leave at 8 a.m. Oct. 8 from the IOOF Hall parking lot and visit historic sites in the area and through scenic northwestern Pennsylvania. Snacks will be provided by the society. Lunch will be on your own. The cost is $25, and checks should be made out to the society and mailed to Margaret O'Neil, 242 E. Manor Ave., Struthers, OH 44471.
