Monday, August 15, 2005

YOUNGSTOWN -- An East Side woman was robbed of a gold chain bearing an Ohio State University emblem shortly before noon Sunday as she was pumping gasoline.
The woman was at a gas station in the 1000 block of McGuffey Road when a man approached and asked her to exchange a $10 bill, a report shows. The man grabbed the chain from her neck and told her, "You should not have done that to my sister," the report says.
Another man tried to grab the perpetrator, but he fled, the report shows.
The report says the robber matches the description of a man frequently seen begging for money near the station. Police said he is black, about 19, and is 5 feet 5 inches, weighs about 135 pounds and has short hair.
