August 13, 1980: The manager of a Las Vegas hotel reports that 100 reservations for Centennial Sunshine tours were canceled when the travel agent failed to pay the required deposit. Some 100 Youngstowners booked on a tour to Las Vegas were left standing at Youngstown Municipal Airport when the chartered plane that was supposed to take them to Vegas never showed up.

August 13, 1955: Trumbull County deputies and Warren police are questioning a 23-year-old Cincinnati man in connection with the brutal stabbing death of Sylvia Tanner, 15, in July. Her body was found in a thicket off S. Pine Ave. after police received a tip.
