Berlin Center teen cheers way to Miss Ohio Cheerleader

BERLIN CENTER -- A Berlin Center teenager is wearing the title of Miss Ohio Cheerleader of America.
Jamie Jones, a senior at Western Reserve High School, captured the title April 17 after a two-day event at the Holiday Inn Columbus/Worthington. She received a tiara, certificate, plaque and a $1,000 cash scholarship.
Jones, daughter of Mary Jane and Jack Jones, has cheered since her freshman year, three out of four years as a varsity letterman.
She has participated in several camps and competitions and was named Cheer Time Athletics' Overall Most Spirited and All Star cheerleader.
She is on the school honor roll and is a member of the National Honor Society. She was chosen for Who's Who and the Presidential Classroom Leadership Conference.
Jones plans to attend Kent State University's radiology program and specialize in ultrasound. Afterward, she would like to work on a master's degree in political science and perhaps run for public office.
The Michigan-based Miss Cheerleader of America program is offered to female high school cheerleaders. The competition includes written essays and interviews with professional judges.
