Cash register stolen
YOUNGSTOWN -- The cash register at Subway on East Midlothian Boulevard was taken during a break-in at 12:45 a.m. Saturday, police said. Police who responded to the burglar alarm found a window had been broken, possibly by a rock, to gain entry. The manager is expected to turn over the surveillance tape to detectives Monday.
Sexual assault reported
YOUNGSTOWN -- A 39-year-old Boardman woman walking to a bar on Mahoning Avenue around 1:35 a.m. Saturday was raped after being pulled into a car near the bus stop on Osborne Avenue, reports show.
The woman said she and her son had been at a bar on South Meridian Road and he left with their car to go to a bar on Mahoning. When she later followed on foot to meet her son, an older dark blue Chevrolet, possibly a Monte Carlo or Cavalier, stopped and someone inside asked if she wanted a ride. After the woman said "No," the front seat passenger pulled her into the vehicle.
The car then parked behind the Mahoning Plaza, reports show. The woman said the front and back seat passengers took turns raping her while her head lay on the driver's lap. Both suspects wore condoms.
Afterward, the woman was tossed out of the car on Meridian and the suspects drove east on Mahoning. She walked to a bar to call police and was taken to St. Elizabeth Health Center for a rape examination.
The suspects are described as one white (the driver) and two black (the passengers) and all 20 years old.
