NEW YORK -- Alex Rodriguez, Tino Martinez and the Yankees broke out for 13 runs in a record-setting second inning. One day after owner George Steinbrenner lashed out at his $200 million team for its 4-8 start, Rodriguez homered twice, doubled twice and finished with five hits. He drove in six runs and scored five times. Martinez hit a grand slam and knocked in six runs. Bernie Williams had three hits and Jason Giambi scored three runs, making a winner of Jaret Wright (2-1).
Red Sox 12, Blue Jays 7
BOSTON -- Curt Schilling labored through five innings to earn his first win since ankle surgery last November and Manny Ramirez hit two home runs for Boston. Schilling (1-1) threw 118 pitches, allowing 10 hits, two walks and three earned runs. He struck out 10. Ramirez hit two homers over the Green Monster to drive in five runs and lost two balls in the sun for a double and a two-base error. It was his second two-homer game in three days and 41st multiple homer game of his career.
Tigers 13, Orioles 3
BALTIMORE -- Dmitri Young went 3-for-5 with a homer and three RBIs, leading a 16-hit attack for Detroit. Omar Infante also homered for the Tigers, who cruised to their first win against Baltimore since May 7, 2003. Every Detroit starter except Carlos Pena got at least one hit. Erik Bedard (0-1) gave up eight runs and nine hits in 4 2/3 innings, and Baltimore's Brian Roberts extended his hitting streak to 13 games.
White Sox 5, Twins 4
CHICAGO -- Carl Everett homered twice, including a tie-breaking two-run drive in the sixth inning. Joe Crede also hit a two run-homer for Chicago, which overcame a 3-1 deficit. Luis Vizcaino (2-1) pitched two scoreless innings for the win. Shingo Takatsu pitched the ninth for his fourth save, allowing a solo homer to Joe Mauer. Kyle Lohse (1-2) allowed five runs and seven hits in six innings in the loss.
Athletics 8, Rangers 5
ARLINGTON, Texas -- Dan Haren pitched six solid and cleanup hitter Erubiel Durazo snapped out of a season-long slump with his first extra-base hits. Durazo went 3-for-4 with two doubles and an RBI. Haren (1-1) struck out seven and walked five. Mark DeRosa hit a two-run homer, his first of the season, in the ninth for Texas.

Reds 7, Cubs 6
CINCINNATI -- Adam Dunn hit two solo homers off Kerry Wood as Cincinnati rallied. Derrek Lee hit the longest of the Cubs' four homers, a shot that bounced off the batter's eye and out of the park, as Chicago went up 5-1 after three innings. Rich Aurilia's two-run single off Wood tied it at 5-all in the sixth and Chicago's bullpen let it slip away. Jason LaRue hit a go-ahead two-run double in the eighth. Kent Mercker (1-0) pitched two innings for the win and Danny Graves finished it for his fifth save. Corey Patterson, Aramis Ramirez and Jeromy Burnitz also homered for the Cubs.
Phillies 5, Mets 4
PHILADELPHIA -- Randy Wolf took a shutout into the ninth inning, and Philadelphia's bullpen barely held on. Pat Burrell homered and had two RBIs, extending his NL-leading total to 19, and David Bell had a pair of RBI doubles, helping the Phillies win their third straight. Wolf (1-1) allowed three runs and nine hits, while striking out five. Kaz Ishii (0-2) gave up five runs, six hits and walked six in five innings for New York. Tim Worrell surrendered a three-run homer to Cliff Floyd in the ninth before earning the save.
Dodgers 7, Brewers 3
MILWAUKEE -- Odalis Perez didn't allow a hit until Junior Spivey doubled in the seventh inning, and Milton Bradley hit home runs from both sides of the plate to lead Los Angeles. The Dodgers, who got consecutive homers from Bradley and Jason Repko, won their sixth straight and at 10-2 is off to their best 12-game start since 1981. Perez (3-0) at one point retired straight 15 batters and left after allowing two runs and one hit in 6 1/3 innings.
Marlins 9, Nationals 4
WASHINGTON -- Dontrelle Willis allowed his first three runs of the season, but Florida batted around in the seventh to hand Washington its first loss at home. Willis extended his scoreless streak to 24 innings before allowing Jose Vidro's lead-off homer in the seventh. Miguel Cabrera had three of the Marlins' 12 hits, and Carlos Delgado, Juan Encarnacion, Mike Lowell and Paul Lo Duca all had RBI doubles during the Marlins' big inning. Willis (3-0) allowed three runs and six hits in six innings.
Braves 1, Astros 0, 12 innings
HOUSTON -- Tim Hudson outpitched Roger Clemens, and rookie Ryan Langerhans had a pinch-hit homer in the 12th inning. After Julio Franco struck out to lead off the 12th, Langerhans homered deep to right off Astros reliever Dan Wheeler (0-2). Danny Kolb earned his fourth save in five opportunities. Chris Reitsma escaped a no-out, bases-loaded jam in the 10th and Jorge Sosa (1-0) pitched a perfect 11th for the win. Hudson lasted into the 10th innings, allowing four hits while striking out nine. Clemens pitched seven-plus innings, surrendering five hits.
Diamondbacks 5, Rockies 3
DENVER -- Troy Glaus hit his fifth homer and Brandon Webb beat the Rockies for the second time in a week. Tony Clark, Craig Counsell and Royce Clayton had consecutive run-scoring singles in the seventh. Ryan Speier (1-1) allowed five straight singles without recording an out in the loss.
