YCS keeps parents informed with Edline

YOUNGSTOWN -- Youngstown Christian School has implemented Edline, an Internet tool that keeps families informed of the progress of pupils.
YCS is one of the first schools in the Mahoning Valley to bring Edline to pupils, parents and teachers. Families of pupils in grades 1-12 have been given written instructions on how to log on to their own personal site. Edline gives families the ability to check grades and assignments 24 hours a day. In the near future, Edline also will have lunch menus, sports schedules, school calendars and e-mail exchanges with the teachers and staff. One of the many benefits of the Edline system is knowing when homework assignments are due and when tests are planned.
Even families that do not have Internet access at home can use Edline at their local library. Each family has a special password to which only they should have access. For those that are less experienced with the Internet, free coaching sessions have been made available to YCS families.
YCS, sponsored by the Highway Tabernacle Church in Austintown, also has wireless Internet connections in the classroom and Smartboards in each classroom for interactive learning. It is in the process of building a new high school at its Southern Boulevard site, opening this fall in conjunction with Youngstown Christian School's 30th year.
