Drug case goes to jury
WARREN -- A 30-year-old Warren man facing 10 felony drug related charges is taking his case to a jury. Lyndal Kimble declined to accept a four-year prison deal offered by prosecutors. Kimble's trial is scheduled to begin at 9 a.m. Monday in the courtroom of Judge W. Wyatt McKay of Trumbull County Common Pleas Court. Kimble is facing eight counts of drug trafficking and two counts of drug possession. He also faces one misdemeanor drug possession charge. If convicted of all the counts he faces up to 14 years in prison, said Diane Barber, an assistant Trumbull County prosecutor. A traffic stop June 28, 2003 and Kimble's arrest in an unrelated case were videotaped by a bystander and then shown to local and national broadcast networks. Kimble has maintained that he was a victim of police brutality; his lawsuit against police is pending.
Restaurant robbed
BOARDMAN -- A man stole about $160 in cash from the cash register when he pulled a gun at a Boardman-Poland Road restaurant.
Police reports said a man grabbed the cashier's hand at Perkin's restaurant early Wednesday and pushed her away from the register, waved the gun, took money from the register and left the restaurant.
Foundation gives grant
YOUNGSTOWN -- The Youngstown Foundation has awarded a $2,000 grant to the local affiliate of SCORE to buy a copy machine.
SCORE, called Counselors to America's Small Business, is in Room 306 of Williamson Hall at Youngstown State University.
Mayoral debate set
YOUNGSTOWN -- A candidates debate for Youngstown mayor will be held at 7 p.m. Monday at St. Patrick's Church, 1420 Oak Hill Ave.
Dan Rivers, talk show host at 570 WKBN radio, will be the moderator.
The debate is sponsored by Mahoning Valley Real Estate Investors Association in conjunction with The Louie Free Show and the Youngstown Columbiana Association of Realtors.
This event is free and open to all real estate Investors, landlords, Realtors, bankers, tenants or other interested city residents.
Hubbard seeks residents

Sign language classes
YOUNGSTOWN -- American sign language classes are being offered by the Community Center for the Deaf, 6614 Southern Boulevard,
Classes, which begin May 23 and end June 27, will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Mondays and Wednesday. Cost is $60. Discounts are available.
Beginner courses will help develop expressive and receptive skills by learning vocabulary, language structure and deaf culture.
Registrations are being accepted by phone, fax or e-mail on a first-come, first-served basis. No refunds after the first class.
Adult classes, ages 12 and up; kids classes, ages 6-11; private tutoring and other classes are available upon request.

Author visits school
CAMPBELL -- Marcia Schonberg, author of several nonfiction books highlighting Ohio, will be working with and speaking to pupils April 14 during the school day. She will also be presenting a public focus session for parents, pupils and the general public at 6 p.m. at Campbell Elementary Middle School Cafetorium.
