Diane Sauer Chevrolet gets tax abatement
WARREN -- Trumbull County commissioners have approved a 10-year tax break for an expansion of Diane Sauer Chevrolet Inc. at its new location in downtown Warren.
Under the agreement, approved last week by Warren City Council, the company will be forgiven 75 percent of property taxes that otherwise would have been owed on a new service building, showroom expansion and carwash.
The buildings and equipment will cost between $2.6 million and $3.4 million, officials say.
The company has pledged to hire five new employees within three years.
The tax break request was supported by the Warren Board of Education, which would have received the lion's share of tax revenue.
"They have our full support," board treasurer Phillip Butto told commissioners.
The dealership moved from West Market Street to the old Downtown Olds building at U.S. Route 422 and state Route 169 when it lost its lease in June, Sauer said.
"I'm just happy they stayed downtown," Commissioner James Tsagaris said.
