EASTWOOD EXPO Show offers glimpse of exotic cats

NILES -- The Cat Fanciers' Association Great Lakes Region is sponsoring the Great Lakes Regional Cat Show at the Eastwood Expo Center.
The cat show will be held from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Oct. 9 and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Oct. 10.
Cats from around the country will have the opportunity to earn Top Cat status. More than 400 purebred cats and household pets are expected to compete in this year's show.
Many breeds are on the list of competitors, including Maine Coons, Persians, Birman, Norwegian Forest Cats, Abyssinian, Burmese, Devon Rex and Japanese Bobtail.
The show will be open to the public, and vendors will have cat-related products for sale.
In addition to the judging activities, which will take place throughout the show, spectators will have the opportunity to see cats up close while they are waiting to compete. Most owners are happy to answer questions about their cats, and many of them will offer kittens for sale.
Tickets will be available at the gate. Admission is $6 for adults and $4 for seniors and children. Children under 5 will be admitted free. For more information on the show, call Marilyn at (412) 734-9419, or visit www.cfagreatlakes.org.
The Cat Fanciers' Association is a nonprofit organization dedicated to the welfare of cats. CFA says it was founded in 1906 and is the world's largest registry of pedigreed cats, with affiliated clubs producing more than 325 shows a year.
