YPSILANTI, Mich. -- Matt Schabert threw two touchdown passes to lead Eastern Illinois to a 31-28 win over Eastern Michigan on Saturday.
After coming off the bench to score two touchdowns for Eastern Illinois (1-2) last weekend, Schabert got the start against the Eagles. He completed 13-of-22 passes for 199 yards.
Schabert, a senior who transferred from Wisconsin, didn't play in the Panthers' season opener.
Ryan Voss caught five passes for 142 yards and two touchdowns. Jordan Campanella and Ademola Adeniji also scored for Eastern Illinois.
Receiver Justin Duhai has not caught a touchdown pass yet this season, but he was on the passing end of the Panthers' second score Saturday, a 36-yard TD pass to Voss in the second quarter.
Quarterback Matt Bohnet went 17-for-28 with two touchdowns for Eastern Michigan (1-3). Eric Deslauriers had seven catches and one touchdown.
Eastern Illinois took control in the third quarter. The Panthers went on top with a field goal, then added a touchdown to make it 24-14.
Eastern Illinois led 31-20 late in the fourth, but Bohnet threw a 64-yard touchdown to Trumaine Riley with less than 2 minutes left. A two-point conversion made it 31-28.
Anthony Sherrell led Eastern Michigan with 55 yards on nine carries, despite not registering a carry until the third quarter. After nine straight games with more than 100 yards rushing, Sherrell has been held to double digits in each of his past three games.
Ohio 34, Buffalo 0
ATHENS, Ohio -- Tyler Russ returned an interception 33 yards for a touchdown and Matt Muncy picked up a fumble and raced 98 yards for another score to lead Ohio to a 34-0 victory over Buffalo on Saturday night.
Russ picked off a pass on the third play from scrimmage to stake the Bobcats (2-2, 1-1 Mid-American Conference) to an early lead.
With Buffalo (0-4, 0-2) driving in the third quarter, Muncy scooped up a fumble by Jared Patterson and outran the field.
The Bobcats also scored on the play following a Buffalo turnover. T.J. Wright intercepted a Bulls pass in the end zone and on the next snap Ryan Hawk hit Scott Mayle for an 80-yard touchdown. Hawk, who completed 11 of 19 passes for 192 yards, also connected with Rudy Sylvan on an 8-yard score.
