Agency on aging's senior fair will offer services, activities

HERMITAGE, Pa. -- The Mercer County Area Agency on Aging will have its Senior Celebration 2004, an information and services fair for older adults, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday at the Shenango Valley Mall.
More than 70 organizations and businesses will be represented at the fair, which will also offer free health screenings and entertainment as well as Senior Center crafts and gifts.
There will be information on a variety of aging services such as long-term care options, Medicare waiver program, Family Caregiver support, in-home services, and transportation.
Representatives of the state treasurer's office will be on hand to return cash and other assets to local residents that the state is holding.
The department's unclaimed property bureau has a list of cash and other valuables the state may be holding, and representatives will have laptop computers to make instant checks for anyone who thinks he might have money left in a dormant bank account, stocks or dividends or even forgotten safe deposit boxes.
Free screenings will include body fat analysis, bone density, glaucoma, hearing, heart health risk, breathing function, weight and body mass index and blood pressure.
Other programs include:
U9 a.m.: Live broadcast of the "Senior Citizen Update" radio show.
U9 a.m.: Senior aerobics.
U9:30 a.m.: Artists in motion oil painting demonstration.
U10 a.m.: Senior balance class.
U10:30 a.m.: Pilates.
U10:30 a.m.: Shenango Valley Senior Community Center Choral Group.
U11:15 a.m.: Silver Sneakers by the YMCA.
U11:15 p.m.: Fred Boles Trio.
UNoon: "Let's Make A Deal" with Al Boland.
U12:30 p.m.: Shenango Valley Center Line Dancers.
U 1 p.m.: Red hat fashion show.
