Erotic Museum inductsHefner, who donates pj's
LOS ANGELES -- So when are pajamas worthy of a museum exhibit? When they belong to Hugh Hefner.
The Playboy lothario was honored as the first inductee into the Erotic Museum of Hollywood's hall of fame for being "one of the most democratizing forces in sexuality in the last century," according to the museum.
"Hugh Hefner's brand of preened perfection became the standard of beauty for a nation," the museum stated on its Web site.
Hefner said Wednesday he donated some artifacts to his exhibit, which was unveiled Tuesday in a ceremony hosted by comedian Bill Maher.
"They have a pair of my pajamas, slippers, a pipe and a bunny costume," Hefner told The Associated Press. "And a very handsome oil portrait that was apparently painted in Russia."
Hefner said the Erotic Museum takes a scholarly approach to the subject of erotica and sexuality.
"It's done in a very classy way, but of course because the subject is sex it will prompt titillation, but that says a great deal about us. And it supports the notion that a museum that takes sexuality seriously is a good idea."
Other upcoming inductees into the "erotic hall of fame" will include burlesque-trained actress Mae West, psychoanalyst Dr. Sigmund Freud, birth-control advocate Margaret Sanger and sex therapist Dr. Ruth Westheimer.
Protesters turn outat Hilton's book signing
LOS ANGELES -- Not everyone is amused by Paris Hilton's literary efforts. The hotel heiress/party girl was doing a book signing for her memoirs, "Confessions of an Heiress: A Tongue-in-Chic Peek Behind the Pose," at Book Soup in West Hollywood when she was met with a group of protesters, reports MSNBC.com.
"There were about 50 people carrying placards that said things like 'Paris, your book is only good for hamster bedding,"' a source says. "E! the entertainment network started filming them, and they began chanting, 'Paris can't spell E!'"
Were they disgruntled unpublished authors? Was it a staged event? "Hard to say, but they seemed serious," says the source.
The protesters didn't dampen Hilton's fans' enthusiasm, however.
"When she came out of the bookstore, she had her dog, Tinkerbell, in her arms, and she was met with dozens and dozens of flashbulbs," the source says.

She didn't disclose the baby's due date.
