Robbery, attempted robbery probed

Monday, October 18, 2004

BOARDMAN -- Township police are investigating a robbery and attempted robbery that took place Saturday.
Police said that at 10:14 p.m. Saturday, a Youngstown woman was robbed of $40 at Sky Bank in the 3000 block of South Avenue. As the woman was withdrawing $40 from the drive-up ATM machine, a man came from the rear of her car, shoved her hand out of the way and took the money, police said. The woman drove off, leaving her ATM card in the machine.
Late Friday, a man and a woman walked into Papa John's restaurant on Tiffany South to order pizza. Later, the man came back two more times alone. At 12:10 a.m. Saturday, the last time he came in, he told employees he had a gun and demanded money. The restaurant manager did not believe he had a gun and refused to give him any money. After a brief argument about whether the man had a gun, the would-be robber ran out of the restaurant.
Police said they have suspects in both crimes and are investigating.
