YOUNGSTOWN -- Tickets for Cardinal Mooney's Division IV playoff game with Liberty will be on sale the remainder of the week through Friday, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Pre-sale student tickets are $5 and adult general admission is $6. All tickets at the gate will be $6. The game is Friday at 7:30 p.m. at Falcon Stadium in Austintown.
South Range
NORTH LIMA -- Tickets for South Range's Division V playoff game with Smithville will be on sale at the high school and middle school through Friday. Tickets are $6 for adults and $5 for students. All tickets at the gate are $6. The game is Saturday at 7 p.m. at Canton Central Catholic.
Ventresco is PACplayer of the week
NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. -- Westminster College football standout Tony Ventresco (Boardman) was named defensive player of the week by the Presidents' Athletic Conference.
Ventresco, a 6-foot-2, 265-pound senior defensive tackle, posted 12 total tackles (10 solo, two assisted) along with a pair of quarterback sacks for the Titans in their 18-13 loss to Waynesburg.
TCL beats ICL
NEW WATERFORD -- The Tri-County League defeated the Inter-County League, 3 games to 2, in a senior all-star match Tuesday at Crestview High.
The TCL won 25-18, 25-15, 23-25, 20-25, 18-16.

Indians promoteKomminsk
CLEVELAND -- The Indians promoted Brad Komminsk from manager of their Double-A team to outfield and baserunning coordinator.
Komminsk spent three seasons with the Akron Aeros, leading them to the 2003 Eastern League title. Komminsk replaces Al Bumbry.
Torey Lovullo was named Akron's manager on Tuesday. He led Single-A Kinston to the Carolina League title last season.
Luis Rivera, who managed Single-A Lake County, was promoted to lead Kinston.
Prep standout chooses Penn State
MONROEVILLE, Pa. -- Justin King, a Gateway High School cornerback-running back who is considered one of the nation's top 10 high school players, will play at Penn State.
Harness driver gets five-year sentence
RAVENNA -- A top harness racing driver was sentenced to five years in prison for stabbing his estranged wife in the back with a steak knife.
"I really screwed my life up," Walter Case Jr. said Monday in court. "I let alcohol take over my life. I wish I could take it back."
Case is harness racing's second winningest driver with 11,027 victories.
Case, 43, pleaded guilty in September to felonious assault. Police said he attacked his wife on June 22, punching and kicking her until she ran from the couple's home. He chased her into the street and stabbed her, police said.

Holyfield suspendedfollowing loss
NEW YORK -- Evander Holyfield was suspended indefinitely by New York boxing officials in the wake of his loss Saturday night to journeyman Larry Donald.
The 42-year-old former four-time heavyweight champion will have to seek medical clearance if he wants to fight again.

NEW YORK -- ABC apologized Tuesday for a steamy intro to "Monday Night Football" after receiving complaints from viewers and the NFL.
The spot featured a naked Nicollette Sheridan jumping into the arms of Terrell Owens.

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. -- Two Big Ten receivers, Michigan's Braylon Edwards and Purdue's Taylor Stubblefield, and Ball State's Dante Ridgeway are finalists for the Biletnikoff Award, given to college football's best receiver.
California cyclistreceives suspension
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -- Cyclist David Fuentes was suspended from competition for two years Tuesday after testing positive for steroids.
Fuentes, of Berkeley, Calif., tested positive for oxymetholone at the Redlands Classic in Redlands, Calif., on March 25, the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency said. An independent panel from the American Arbitration Association and North American Court of Arbitration for Sport upheld the finding.

Court sets new dates for drug hearings
LAUSANNE, Switzerland -- Hearings in the doping cases of American sprinters Tim Montgomery and Chryste Gaines have been delayed until the middle of next year, the Court of Arbitration for Sport said Tuesday.
The sports world's highest court said Montgomery's hearing will start June 6 in San Francisco and Gaines' case will begin July 10 in New York. The hearings had been set to begin in early November, but were postponed at the request of all parties.
Montgomery, world record holder in the 100 meters, and Gaines have been charged by the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency and face lifetime bans if found guilty.
