Tuesday, November 16, 2004

SHARON, Pa. -- Santa Claus and the Penn State Nittany Lion are just two of the celebrities who will be on hand for the annual downtown Sharon Light Up Night celebration Thursday to kick off the holiday season.
The Greater Sharon Associates and Radio stations WPIC and WHOT have teamed up to present this year's event, which begins at 6:15 p.m.
Activities will center in the First National Bank parking lot on West State Street, directly across from The Winner.
AC and Kelly from WHOT and Bob Popa from WPIC will emcee the event.
The Sharon High School band, choir and mixed chorus will perform, and the Nittany Lion from Penn State Shenango will be on hand to pass out bags of candy.
Hot chocolate and apple cider will also be provided.
A highlight of the evening will be the lighting of the traditional Holiday Flame, a tree lighting ceremony and the arrival of Santa Claus.
The event will end with a fireworks display and everyone is welcome to join a party at Quaker Steak & amp; Lube at Connelly Boulevard and Chestnut Street after the festivities.
