Jury indicts man in attack

LISBON -- A man has been indicted on a charge of attempted murder in connection with the choking and beating of his girlfriend.
Gary L. Call Sr., 60, of Iris Drive, Toronto, Ohio, also faces a charge of kidnapping.
The indictments were returned this week by a Columbiana County grand jury.
Call was living with Susan Harris at her home on Steubenville-Pike Road in Washington Township in southern Columbiana County. Court records state he told Jefferson County authorities he thought she was dead after he choked her, but dragged her into the woods and struck her with a tree branch.
The grand jury also indicted two men as part of an undercover Internet investigation by New Waterford police.
Mark R. Jasinski, 41, of Wellington, Ohio, was indicted on charges of importuning and attempted unlawful sexual conduct with a minor.
Kenneth L. Rice, 45, of Galion, was indicted on charges of importuning, attempted unlawful sexual conduct with a minor, and disseminating matter harmful to juveniles.
