NEW YORK (AP) -- It's the thought than runs through many shoppers' heads as they admire this season's stylish retro accessories: They're so cute, but how would I wear it?
Banana Republic has some ideas.
Brooches, for instance, are enjoying a bit of a renaissance. They can add a touch of femininity when pinned to the lapel of a business suit, or a little glamour when wore on the neckline of a coat. Brooches also can be tied to the waistline of the skirt.
A new "twist" would be to tie it to a ribbon in a matching color to make a bracelet.
If one of the trendy-again crocheted shawls are more to your liking, use it as a cover-up over a swimsuit or wear it with a solid-colored tank, jeans and flip-flops.
The freshest looking shawls are those in bold colors, and they can be the perfect topper to a basic -- as in a few seasons old -- cocktail dress.
