Francisco, Pinckney lead Aeros to 8-3 victory



ALTOONA, Pa. (AP) -- Ben Francisco hit a two-run homer and Brandon Pinckney drove in three runs to lead the Akron Aeros to an 8-3 win over the Altoona Curve on Tuesday night in the Class AA Eastern League.
The Aeros scored four runs in the fourth inning to take the lead for good and snap a seven-game losing streak against the Curve. Akron improved to 2-12 against Altoona this season.
Ryan Garko scored on second baseman Jeff Keppinger's error, and Francisco followed with a homer to give the Aeros a 4-3 lead. Pinckney singled home Scott Pratt later in the inning and added a two-run single in the eighth.
Akron starter Fausto Carmona (4-5) allowed three runs on seven hits with five strikeouts and no walks over eight innings.
The Curve took a 3-1 lead on Josh Bonifay's RBI single in the first and Keppinger's two-run double in the third.
Toledo 2, Buffalo 1
BUFFALO, N.Y. -- Rich Gomez hit a two-run homer to lift the Toledo Mud Hens to a 2-1 win over the Buffalo Bisons in the Class AAA International League.
Buffalo took a 1-0 lead in the first inning when Ernie Young's sacrifice fly scored Brandon Phillips.
Gomez homered in the sixth off Francisco Cruceta (3-3) to give the Mud Hens the lead.
Toledo starter Pat Ahearne (8-8) scattered six hits with four strikeouts in 72/3 innings. Franklyn German pitched a perfect ninth for the save.
Cruceta walked four and struck out four in 52/3 innings.
