Sting 70, Mystics 41
CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Olympian Dawn Staley scored 19 points in her last home game before heading to Athens, helping Charlotte snap a four-game losing streak. The Mystics absorbed their most lopsided loss of the season without leading scorer Chamique Holdsclaw. Holdsclaw did not travel with the team because of "personal reasons," according to a team spokesman. Washington was also without starting point guard Tamicha Jackson, who's on the injured list with a strained knee, and Stacey Dales-Schuman, who missed her third straight game with a sore heel. Alana Beard had 19 points for the Mystics (10-13), who have lost four of five.

UNCASVILLE, Conn. -- Nykesha Sales scored a season-high 26 points to lead Connecticut past San Antonio. Katie Douglas added 14 points on 5-of-8 shooting, including 4-for-4 from 3-point range. Taj McWilliams-Franklin added 13 points and eight rebounds. Shannon Johnson led San Antonio with 15 points, six assists and five steals.
Liberty 78, Shock 69
NEW YORK -- Elena Baranova had 16 of her 21 points in the second half to lead New York at Radio City Music Hall. New York is playing six home games at Radio City because of next month's Republican National Convention at Madison Square Garden. Becky Hammon had 17 points and Vickie Johnson added 16 points and eight rebounds to help New York win its third straight. Swin Cash had 21 points to lead Detroit.
